Springs of Water is a one-of-a-kind ceramic relief by April Dupuis of The Potter’s Hands Studio in Oxford, Mississippi. Wheat and pampas fronds are worked in gold and silver leaf across a pale textured ground, with hand-sculpted white clay blossoms and seed pods set in relief. It is presented in a white shadowbox frame and measures [H]” × [W]”. From the Flourish collection, after Isaiah 42:15

Description

The grain heads in Springs of Water are painted and leafed by hand — gold laid over the strokes, silver broken across them so the surface catches light differently from every angle. The blossoms and seed pods are sculpted separately in clay and set into the ground, giving the piece real depth behind glass.

“I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not.” — Isaiah 42:15–16

Grain is what dry ground produces when water finds it. The piece holds both at once: the wheat already standing, and the light moving through it.

About the Flourish collection

Flourish is a series of hand-sculpted ceramic relief works drawn from the promise that dry places are made to bloom. Each piece is built in clay, textured, sculpted, and finished with metal leaf, then framed as wall art. No two are alike, and none are reproduced.
