Keepsakes · Homeplace Collection
Your homeplace,
carved in clay.
The Homeplace Collection is a line of custom house portrait plates, platters, vases, and wine chiller sets, hand-carved at The Potter’s Hands Studio in Oxford, Mississippi. Artist April Dupuis carves your home, cabin, lake house, farm, or family land into handmade stoneware using sgraffito — scratching through a layer of white slip to draw every porch rail, tree line, and shoreline by hand. Each piece can carry a family name, property name, monogram, or date, and no two are alike.
How a Homeplace piece is made
-
Send photos of the place
A few phone photos are plenty — the front of the house, the view from the dock, the old oak, the barn. Add the name or lettering you want carved.
-
April draws the scene
April sketches a design from your photos and works with you until it feels like your place. She can combine features from several photos into one scene.
-
Carved, fired, sent home
The piece is coated in white slip, carved line by line, then glazed and kiln-fired. Most pieces are finished in 6–8 weeks once the design is approved.
Pieces in the collection
House & cabin plates
Your house, cabin, or lake house carved as a portrait, framed by the trees around it. Add a plate hanger to display it on the wall at home, at the cabin, or in the office.
Land, lake & coast platters
No house required. The tree line on the back forty, the creek behind the farm, the sunset off the pier — carved with the family or property name.
Family homes & estates
The family home, the farmhouse, the old homeplace — columns, porches, chimneys, and the oaks out front, carved in full detail on a plate, platter, or vase.

Homeplace questions
What can be carved on a Homeplace piece?
Houses, cabins, lake houses, barns, docks, and farm buildings, along with the trees, water, fields, and shoreline around them. A family name, property name, monogram, or date can be carved into the rim or the scene.
Can you work from photos of my house or land?
Yes. Phone photos work well — send the front of the house, your favorite view, and any trees or features that matter. April draws the scene from your photos and can combine several into one design.
Can the plate hang on a wall?
Yes. Add the plate hanger option and your piece arrives ready to display at home, at the cabin, or in the office.
Is a Homeplace piece a good closing or housewarming gift?
Yes. Realtors and builders can order Homeplace platters as closing gifts, and families give them for housewarmings, anniversaries, and to remember a home that has been sold. Ask about orders of more than one piece.
How long does a Homeplace commission take?
Most pieces are finished in 6–8 weeks once the design is approved. If the piece is a gift for a set date, tell us when you reach out so the schedule works back from it.
