Fear Not Ceramic Relief Panel
Fear Not is a one-of-a-kind unframed ceramic relief panel by April Dupuis of The Potter’s Hands Studio in Oxford, Mississippi. A cluster of hand-sculpted dogwood blossoms runs down the right side of a thickly worked white ground. No frame, no glass, no metal leaf — the piece is left plain. It measures [H]” × [W]”. From the Flourish collection, after Isaiah 41:10.
Description
About the piece
Fear Not is the plainest work in the collection by intention. Where the other pieces carry gold, glass, and frames, this one carries none. The blossoms are sculpted individually and pressed into a ground worked in broad palette-knife strokes, and the panel is left open — meant to lean on a shelf or mantel as readily as hang.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” — Isaiah 41:10
The dogwood carries its own long-told story in the South. It is a small tree that blooms early, often while it is still cold.
About the Flourish collection
Flourish is a series of hand-sculpted ceramic relief works drawn from the promise that dry places are made to bloom. Each piece is built in clay, textured, sculpted, and finished with metal leaf, then framed as wall art. No two are alike, and none are reproduced.
